Lucid Motor’s New Gravity Panoramic e-SUV Long Range

Final production design and specifications are now being made to Gravity

Lucid Motors is one of the first electric auto startups to address its lack of an SUV by releasing the Gravity SUV. The company has released the first look at its Gravity SUV ahead of a more formal reveal early next year.

The Gravity SUV by Lucid Motors looks like a high-tech electric car with a clear view of the stars at night. The company claims that it will have better performance and range than any other electric vehicle on the market, including its own Air sedan, which has an EPA rating of 520 miles (837 km).

Lucid’s electric range is fantastic, but it would be better if it weren’t also trying to offer “supercar performance.” We’d love to see a more affordable, practical electric SUV from Lucid, but that doesn’t seem like it will happen anytime soon. For now, the Gravity is just another high-priced luxury performance car for wealthy people who need space to haul their families.

Inside interior of Lucid Motors Gravity SUV

Our first Glimpse of Lucid’s Gravity SUV’s interior reveals how much “Spaciousness” there really is in a six-seat, three-row SUV. The second row has full recliners and offers an expansive panorama with a glass roof that extends over all front and rear passengers. The only interruption to this view are the hoop-like B pillars and central front beam.

Lucid has not completed the design or specifications for the Gravity yet, but they have stated that it will be able to travel farther on a single charge than any other electric SUV currently available. The only exception is its own Air sedan, which can travel between 410 and 520 miles (660 to 837 km) before needing to recharge, depending on the trim level.

By using “EV” and not “electric SUV,” Lucid is suggesting that their vehicle will go further on a charge than the Tesla Model S, which has an EPA-estimated range of 405 miles (652 km). With a range of 400 miles, this electric SUV will have one of the longest ranges available, longer than any other electric SUV on the market. Although it falls short of its own 500-mile range for Lucid’s Air models. It’s impressive how much range, space, performance, and utility this one product offers, but what does it cost?

Lucid will provide more information on the entire Gravity lineup once reservations open in early 2023. The model is scheduled to launch sometime in 2024.

Lucid announced that it has started delivering 480-hp Air Pure AWD and $107,400 620-hp Air Touring AWD sedan models to customers this week. The company is also continuing development of the 1,200-hp Sapphire performance flagship, which is scheduled to launch in 2023. The latest testing results for the Sapphire suggest that it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 mph in 3.87 seconds, which is faster than the Rimac Nevera. However, it falls well short of the Nevera’s world speed record of 205 mph and has a more modest top speed of 330 km/h. According to Lucid, the Sapphire will also be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.89 seconds.
